YouTuber opens up about former life as a gay porn star

Calum McSwiggan is one of those YouTube stars most of us have never heard of. However, the young star is getting a lot of press these last few days because of some other video work he has done.

He revealed to fans that he, and two friends, did webcam work after he was fired from a job for "for being gay."

McSwiggan was 19 at the time, and had been working as a part-time postman to pay for school. After he was let go - which he says had everything to do with his sexuality - he needed to make cash, and quick.

"My student loan couldn't cover my rent so I needed additional income from somewhere," he explained.

He found an eager audience for his sexually explicit clips, so started sharing them online. He found two eager friends to join.

"It wasn't an overnight thing," he said. "The first time we did it we were fully clothed and we were doing nothing untoward. And then it escalated from there.

"I was aware these type of videos were out there and that you could make money through doing it but I wasn't aware how much money. I thought it would be a few pounds but we were talking hundreds of pounds that added up to thousands of pounds a month."

The trio then started having sex on cam, making "10 to 12" extremely graphic videos in total.

"It felt quite exciting and glamorous at the time," he said. "There are hundreds of people watching, saying nice things and you're getting money. But looking back there is nothing glamorous. I've watched the videos back and it is the opposite of glamorous."

Calum, now 25, felt obligated to open up about his past once young fans started finding his X-rated work online.

"I wouldn't say I was enjoying it. There was no part of it that was really fun,' he said. 'We're smiling and laughing on camera but it was all for show. I wouldn't say I hated it either, but I do hate looking back and knowing that it's out there."

In fact, he hoped his story would dissuade others from doing the same thing.

"I want to warn people against doing it. It was a big mistake for me and I don't want anyone else to make that same mistake."
